John 5:1-29 is the scripture passage for Sunday April 22, 2018.

Jesus saw the man who had an infirmity and was unable to walk for thirty-eight years. He was near the pool of Bethesda which was thought to have healing properties. Jesus asked him if he wanted to be healed. His only hope of being healed was in someone putting him into the water. But someone always beat him into the pool. It seemed hopeless when Jesus approached him and asked, “Do you want to be made well?” His response showed he was only looking to some other human being to help him. Jesus said to him, “Get up, take up your bed and walk,” and he was immediately made well. And he took up his bed and walked.
The religious leaders were angry because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath and desired to put Him to death. The man obeyed and was marvelously healed. The question Jesus asked, “Do you want to be made well?” is one we should seriously consider. Do we want to be made well? Do we really want to be transformed into all that God has planned for us? Are we willing to go where He wants me to go, and say what He wants me to say? Can we say with all of our hearts, “Jesus I belong to You, I am not my own, I have been bought with a price? Jesus willingly gave up everything, so we could be forgiven.  Are we willing to give up everything to follow Him?

Do all to the glory of God
